Dr. Warren is a Duke University-trained psychologist, co-trained as a physician assistant and licensed by the NC Psychology Board and the NC Medical Board. Dr. Warren is board-certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in forensic psychology and Police and Public Safety Psychology.
After completing a post-doctoral fellowship specializing in acute psychiatry and neuropsychology at Broughton Hospital, Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC, recruited Dr. Warren to be a part of their staff in 1981. He worked in the medical and rehabilitation psychology and psychiatry departments at the hospital. Dr. Warren continues to hold emeritus status at Forsyth. In 1987 he participated in Police Academy training in Winston-Salem, and in 1988 he completed the Forensic Training Certificate Program at the University of Virginia’s Institute of Law, Psychiatry, and Public Policy. That same year he flew a twin-engine aircraft four days weekly for a national laboratory company as a Part 135 commercial pilot.
During the 1990’s Dr. Warren volunteered with a federally organized disaster medical assistance team (DMAT). Through DMAT, he deployed to numerous state and federal emergencies as a psychologist and emergency medical technician (EMT). In 2001, following the September 11 attacks, he was appointed as a charter member of the US Department of Homeland Security. In 2006 he became the founder and managing member of The FMRT Group. Today, Dr. Warren maintains CPE – Complex Psychological Evaluations, a private practice team specializing in conducting complex clinical, medical, and forensic psychological evaluations. Dr. Warren has performed hundreds of evaluations in criminal, civil, family, and administrative law cases during his career. Through his “Disorders in the Court” workshops, Dr. Warren has provided training in forensic mental health issues to more than 1,000 clinicians, and has enjoyed teaching and training graduate and medical school students in the US and Caribbean.
